“Dreams” by Wislawa Szymborska

” He looked at his own Soul with a Telescope.
What seemed all irregular, he saw and shewed to
be beautiful Constellations: and he added to the
consciousness hidden worlds within worlds.”
Coleridge, NotebooksXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I have reblogged this post from dreamrly and got acquainted with it from http://symbolreader.net/
If you’ve read any of my posts, you may have noticed my interest with “the dream world”.This post /blog shares this interest and an astute poem by Wislawa Szymborska open to discussion, especially about dreams beyond analysis. I find it a po(e)tent means (one “Telescope” of sorts) at “looking at [one’s] soul “as Coleridge so aptly put it.XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

dreamingly yours,

The Immaterial Icarus: Yves Klein

“L’Art C’Est La Santé”

Dying of ridicule, you, Yves, Prince of the void? I suppose this is only a neo-romantic critic’s invention
After Mondo Cane ridiculation: “you are a charlatan”; that should have been enough for infarction
But it took 3 typological fairy tale heart attacks to do you in:
You would have never renounced to ride your Time Machine
Dog’s world or Dante’s
For “l’art c’est la santé” Continue reading

The Astronaut Icarus: Major Tom

Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills and put your helmet on

Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown, engines on
Check ignition and may God’s love be with you

Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five,
Four, Three, Two, One, Liftoff

This is Ground Control to Major Tom
You’ve really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it’s time to leave the capsule if you dare

“This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I’m stepping through the door
And I’m floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do
Yves Klein, Globe Terrestre Bleu (RP 5)
Though I’m past one hundred thousand miles
I’m feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much she knows”

Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you….

“Here am I floating round my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And there’s nothing I can do.”

David Bowie Lyrics

If Only Icarus…

If only Icarus were amongst us still
At the circus of the earth, he’d tell us
What it’s like at the circus
of the air. Above

At the circus below
Down there, I’d tell him: Icarus!
Earthbound, I clown with other
Wingless clowns
We pretend we can fly, we teach it
Even
We pretend we take leaps of
Faith. The fact is, bird:
We’re afraid of flyin’

If only Icarus could tell us, clowns,
The winged existence he promised,
No point of no return deliverance,
We’d surely prepare our nest escape

Icarus,
Only in my dreams do I break free
from the tyranny of Gravity
in perfect celestial timin’
I’d catch the cosmic flyin’
Trapeze

Kairos: The Entry Point

But I wake up clownishly asleep
Icarus did not his promise keep

Mystificarusion…turning point

Wingless still, I’ll have to wing it

If only ‘carus were truly a bird,
Curse of curses I ceaselessly curse,
Aloft, he’d come back swiftly to
Earth
For a bird of the air shall carry
The voice
And that which hath wings shall tell
The matter

Pharmakos: Aaron Swartz

I did not want to start my Icarus Lessons on a tragic note, but the untimely death of Aaron Swartz stroke a cord in me. And below is the first post of this series.

An Unequal Combat

I did not know him before the announcement of his death, on a post left on one of the wordpress blogs, but he touched me deeply with his David and Goliath battle. Continue reading

Life Is Hard but There’s Despair Inc to the Rescue

Image“When we started Despair, we had a dream. To crush other people’s dreams. But we knew, given our goal, we’d be in for a fight. After all, the Motivation Industry has been crushing dreams for decades, selling the easy lie of success you can buy. That’s why we decided to differentiate ourselves- by crushing dreams with hard truths!”

“No industry has inflicted more suffering than the Motivational Industry. Motivational books, speakers and posters have made billions of dollars selling shortcuts to success and tools for unleashing our unlimited potential. At Despair, we know such products only raise hopes to dash them. That’s why our products go straight to the dashing! Enjoy!” Continue reading
